Start on Android — install the app in 4 steps

How do I get started with the NodeNow app on Android?

Install NodeNow directly from the primary or backup APK address, sign in and connect to a server. An official Google Play app is also available. Web plans use RMB pricing; purchases in the Google Play app use store pricing. Approve the first system request, then check the app status and IP.

Step 1 · Download APK

Android phones and tablets are supported. Download the APK directly from the NodeNow release addresses below.

If you prefer a store installation, you can also get it from Google Play. Official Google Play app

Installed from Play · To step 3

Use the primary or backup APK address for direct installation. If you installed through Google Play, continue to step 3 to sign in.

Step 2 · Install the APK (skip for Play installs)

Allow APK installation and install NodeNow

Open the NodeNow-Android-1.1.4-external.apk file you downloaded. You can find it in your browser's download list or in the device's Files app.

Allow installing unknown apps

The first time you install an app from outside the store, a security notice can appear.

How to allow the installation:
  1. When the security warning appears, press [Settings].
  2. Turn on "Allow app installs from this source" for the browser or file manager you are using.
  3. Go back to the install screen and finish [Install].

Path in system settings: Settings → Apps → Special app access → Install unknown apps (menu names differ slightly between devices).

If a manufacturer's security app blocks it (Xiaomi, Huawei and others)

On some manufacturers' devices — Xiaomi (MIUI / HyperOS), Huawei (EMUI / HarmonyOS) and others — the built-in security scanner can block or warn about installing an external APK.

Check that the file name is NodeNow-Android-1.1.4-external.apk, confirm that you downloaded it from a NodeNow release address, then choose "I understand the risk, install anyway" or "Allow an exception" to continue. Screens and wording differ between manufacturers and OS versions, so follow what you see and contact us if you get stuck.

Step 4 · Pick a server, connect, then check

NodeNow connection state, current server and exit IP screen

Pick a server and connect

Pick the server you want on the app screen and press the [Connect] button in the middle.

Allow the system “Connection request” prompt on the first connection (required)

The first time you connect, the Android system shows a "Connection request" dialog.

Dialog text: "NodeNow wants to set up a VPN connection that allows it to monitor network traffic. Only allow this if you trust the source."
In this dialog you must press [OK] or [Allow] for the connection to start.

Once connected, a key-shaped VPN icon usually appears in the status bar at the top of the screen. Treat it as a hint only: judge success from the connection state in the app together with the IP address you appear as.

State C · Connection check

Once the app shows it is connected, open an IP lookup site in your browser (for example ip.sb) and check whether your outgoing IP shows the server region you chose.

If another VPN app is running at the same time, the IP result can be inaccurate, so turn it off while you check. If the IP lookup site does not open, use the connection state in the app instead, and contact us if you are still unsure.

How to disconnect

To end the connection, press the app's connect button again. The key icon disappears and you are back on your original network.

Plans and limits

· Basic: 2 registered devices · 180GB/month · up to 300 Mbps as configured (¥18 / month · ¥180 / year)
· Plus: 3 registered devices · 320GB/month · up to 500 Mbps as configured (¥32 / month · ¥288 / year)
· Max: 5 registered devices · 500GB/month · up to 1,000 Mbps as configured (¥48 / month · ¥468 / year)
· Grand-opening price. Actual speed varies by line and server.

Troubleshooting and error messages

Out of registered slots (device_limit)

This appears when you are using every registered slot your plan allows (Basic 2, Plus 3, Max 5). Tidy up devices you no longer use in the device list of the Account Center. Follow the guidance the app shows, and contact us if that does not resolve it.

Too many concurrent connections (ip_limit)

This happens when the number of external IPs connected at the same time exceeds your plan's limit. Disconnect another device and try again after about a minute. Right after switching from Wi-Fi to mobile data, the previous IP can also linger for up to 60 seconds and cause this message.

Account status (not_eligible)

There can be several reasons: the plan period has ended, the data allowance is used up, or the account is restricted. The cause cannot be pinned down from the code, so check your plan status and remaining data in the Account Center first.

If you would rather connect with another app

If you would rather use another open-source app such as Hiddify instead of the NodeNow APK, see the guide below.

Android FAQ

How do I get started with the NodeNow app on Android?

Install NodeNow directly from the primary or backup APK address, sign in and connect to a server. An official Google Play app is also available. Web plans use RMB pricing; purchases in the Google Play app use store pricing. Approve the first system request, then check the app status and IP.

On Android the app is blocked by a security app.

Installing an APK needs the install-unknown-apps permission, so turn it on for the app you are installing from under Settings > Apps > Special app access. If a security app blocks it, read what it reports, compare the file name and version with the NodeNow release address, and try again. You must also allow the system connection request that appears on the first connection.

What do I need before installing on Android?

You must allow unknown apps so the APK can be installed. In Settings, Apps, Special app access, enable it for the app that performs the install, then install the file. Accept the system connection request shown on the first connection. After that, sign in at the Account Center, choose a server and check the connection.

How do I tell a device-limit problem from a concurrent-connection problem?

These two errors have different causes. A device-limit error means the registered slots are full, while a concurrent-connection error means the number of IPs connected at the same moment passed the limit. If slots are full, tidy up unused devices in the Account Center; if it is concurrency, disconnect another device. The two limits are counted separately.

How do I check whether the app is connected?

Check the connection state in the app together with the IP address you appear as. Once the app shows it is connected, open an IP lookup site in your browser and see whether your outgoing IP is in the server region you chose. Turn off other VPN apps while checking, since they can change the IP result. Do not conclude from the app's connection state alone; read it together with the IP result.
