Start on Windows — install the app in 4 steps
How do I get started with the NodeNow app on Windows?
On Windows 10 and 11 you start by installing the NodeNow app. Download either the EXE installer or the portable zip, sign up in the Account Center, sign in and connect to a server. If SmartScreen warns you, choose More info and then Run anyway. There are four steps, and at the end you check the connection yourself using your IP.
Step 1 · Download the app
Windows 10 and Windows 11 PCs are supported. Download the installer or the portable zip from the NodeNow release addresses below.
Installer (recommended)
File name: NodeNow_Setup_1.1.4.exe
Portable zip, no installation
File name: NodeNow_Portable_1.1.4.zip (extract it and open the executable inside)
Make sure the address you downloaded from is nodenow.net or dl.nodenow.net.
Step 2 · Install it (SmartScreen)
Run the NodeNow_Setup_1.1.4.exe file you downloaded. If you downloaded the zip, extract it and open the executable inside.
State A · Install the app and handle the SmartScreen warning
Until the signing certificate of a newly published program is widely known, Windows can show a security warning like the one below.
- Click [More info].
- Check that the file name is
NodeNow_Setup_1.1.4.exeand that the source domain isnodenow.netordl.nodenow.net. - Press the [Run anyway] button that now appears at the bottom right, and the installation continues normally.
If a User Account Control dialog or a firewall Allow network access dialog appears during installation, choose Yes or Allow. The wording of the warning can differ slightly between Windows versions.

Launching the app brings up the sign-in screen. Sign in with your NodeNow account.

Sign in from the app with your email and password. You can open the Account Center to check your account details or plan.

You are properly signed in once the app shows your account details and the list of servers you can choose.
Step 4 · Pick a server, connect, then check
Pick a server and connect
Pick the server you want from the app's server list and press the [Connect] button in the middle.
State C · Connection check
Once the app shows it is connected, check for yourself that traffic really goes through. Open an IP lookup site in your browser (for example ip.sb) and check whether your outgoing IP shows the server region you chose.
If another VPN program is running, the IP result can differ, so turn it off while you check. If the IP lookup site does not open, use the connection state in the app instead, and contact us if you are still unsure.
How to disconnect
To end the connection, press the NodeNow app's connect button again. You are back on your original network.

Troubleshooting and error messages
Out of registered slots (device_limit)
This appears when you are using every registered slot your plan allows (Basic 2, Plus 3, Max 5). Tidy up devices you no longer use in the device list of the Account Center. Follow the guidance the app shows, and contact us if that does not resolve it.
Too many concurrent connections (ip_limit)
This happens when the number of external IPs connected at the same time exceeds your plan's limit. Disconnect another device and try again after about a minute. Right after switching from Wi-Fi to mobile data, the previous IP can also linger for up to 60 seconds and cause this message.
Account status (not_eligible)
There can be several reasons: the plan period has ended, the data allowance is used up, or the account is restricted. The cause cannot be pinned down from the code, so check your plan status and remaining data in the Account Center first.
If you would rather connect with another app
If you would rather use another program such as Clash instead of the NodeNow app, see the guide below.
Windows FAQ
How do I get started with the NodeNow app on Windows?
On Windows 10 and 11 you start by installing the NodeNow app. Download either the EXE installer or the portable zip, sign up in the Account Center, sign in and connect to a server. If SmartScreen warns you, choose More info and then Run anyway. There are four steps, and at the end you check the connection yourself using your IP.
Windows shows a “Windows protected your PC” warning during installation
The signing certificate is not widely recognised yet, so SmartScreen can show a warning. Choose More info in the warning window and then Run anyway to continue the installation. Before installing, check that you downloaded the file from a NodeNow release address. After installing, also allow the administrator prompt and the network permission request on the first connection.
What do I need before installing on Windows?
You need Windows 10 or 11, and you should download the installer from a NodeNow release address. If the Windows protected your PC warning appears during installation, choose More info and then Run anyway. After installing, allow the administrator prompt and the network permission request on the first connection. Then sign in through the Account Center and pick a server.
How do I tell a device-limit problem from a concurrent-connection problem?
These two errors have different causes. A device-limit error means the registered slots are full, while a concurrent-connection error means the number of IPs connected at the same moment passed the limit. If slots are full, tidy up unused devices in the Account Center; if it is concurrency, disconnect another device. The two limits are counted separately.
How do I check whether the app is connected?
Check the connection state in the app together with the IP address you appear as. Once the app shows it is connected, open an IP lookup site in your browser and see whether your outgoing IP is in the server region you chose. Turn off other VPN apps while checking, since they can change the IP result. Do not conclude from the app's connection state alone; read it together with the IP result.
